McDonald’s workers walk out, demand official workplace safety investigation

On Wednesday, McDonald’s workers in the Fight for $15 walked off the job and submitted two dozen official complaints of violence and unsafe working conditions to OSHA, which oversees workplace safety nationwide.

Every 36 hours on average, local news outlets report another McDonald’s worker subject to danger like gun threats and thrown hot coffee and food. All in all, many cooks and cashiers feel that their stores lack adequate safety measures.

Workers are demanding better security systems, safer drive-thru windows, and better policies to provide health care and time off for workers who experience violence on the job.
